[Bespoke]

A piece, made for the room it's going into.

Most of the work that leaves the workshop is commissioned — built for a known dining room, a known boardroom, a known reader's chair. From the signature Pyramid Desk for a corporate fit-out to a single dining table for a house in the hills, the process is unhurried.

John's pieces leave Yallingup for collectors and clients on every continent — from Chicago to Christchurch, freighted by sea, crated in jarrah. He also works as an integrated services partner with Mayfair Projects, the design-and-build studio run by his son Rowan Streater — bespoke timber, fitted into homes the family has helped to shape from the ground up.

    First conversation

By phone, email, or in person at the gallery. We talk about the piece you have in mind — function, scale, the room it lives in, the table you eat at.

  2. 02

    Timber selection

John walks you through the racks. Jarrah, marri, blackbutt, sometimes karri — each tree has its own colour and grain. The piece is chosen here, before a single cut.

  3. 03

    Drawings & deposit

A hand drawing, scaled, with timber notes. A 30% deposit holds the commission. Lead times typically run twelve to twenty weeks depending on the season.

  4. 04

    In the workshop

Updates by photograph as the piece comes together. You're welcome at the bench any time the gallery is open.
